Koya Pen & Card Stand
Koya means hut in Japanese (a small, simple house). This set is two of them. The tall house holds your pen. The small house holds your business cards, angled so the top card always faces you.
Cast in Jesmonite with a carved door and a ribbed base that reads like a fence line. Weighted, so neither house moves when you pull a pen or a card. Mix the colours or match them. Your desk, your street.

The Signature of Slow Design
Every Kuro piece is made by hand, to order. You may notice small shifts in colour, tiny air bubbles in the Jesmonite, or faint marks from the mould. These are not flaws. They are proof that a person made this, not a machine.

Every product we create is made with Jesmonite, the world’s leading water-based, acrylic polymer composite. This material is celebrated as the eco-friendly alternative to traditional resins and concrete, making it the perfect choice for the sustainable home. Jesmonite is solvent-free and contains no VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), meaning it releases no harsh chemicals or fumes, ensuring a safer process for us and a safer product for your home.
This innovative composite combines a natural gypsum mineral base with a pure, water-based liquid. The result is a durable, high-quality material that is lighter than stone, resistant to water, and incredibly versatile. In addition to being pigmentable for vibrant colours and unique terrazzo effects, Jesmonite features an incredibly fast cure time of just 25 minutes. Choose our products for a beautiful, long-lasting item that supports a greener planet.
To maintain the refined finish of your Jesmonite product, gently wipe it with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust or light stains and always dry it completely afterward. Please avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals, as they can dull the surface and affect the material’s natural texture.
Jesmonite is water-resistant but not waterproof, so avoid soaking or submerging the product in water. Clean spills quickly to prevent marks. Keep your piece away from direct heat and prolonged sunlight, as both can cause discoloration or surface stress over time.
While durable for daily use, Jesmonite can chip or break if dropped—so handle with care. These products are not suitable for dishwashers or microwaves. Each piece is handmade, bringing unique character and slight imperfections that add to its beauty and individuality.
Yes. Jesmonite is an eco-friendly, water-based material (no harsh chemicals, safe for indoor use). It is sometimes called "eco-resin" or "modern stone." Unlike plastic decor, Jesmonite is solvent-free (no toxic liquid chemicals used in making it) and low-VOC (VOC = Volatile Organic Compounds, the harmful gases some materials release into your room). It is safe for daily use on desks and shelves.
Jesmonite is a water-based composite material (a mix of natural stone powder and eco-friendly resin) — not plastic. It has a smooth, cool touch similar to ceramic or concrete, but is more impact-resistant (harder to break or chip) than most plastic decor. Every Kuro piece is made from Jesmonite, never plastic.
Yes. Every Kuro piece is handcrafted (made by hand, not machine) and made to order in Gurgaon, Haryana. Because each piece is poured and finished by hand, no two pieces are 100% identical — this is part of the handmade character, not a defect.
No, this is normal. These small "pin holes" are a natural part of the Jesmonite casting process. Since every Kuro piece is mixed and poured by hand, small air pockets can form during curing (the material hardening and setting). We see this as proof the piece was handmade, not machine-made.
Wipe your Jesmonite piece gently with a soft, damp cloth. Each piece is sealed with a water-resistant coating, but it is not fully waterproof — avoid full submersion and skip the dishwasher. Do not use harsh chemicals or scouring pads (rough scrubbing pads), as these can damage the matte finish.
Yes. As a small, handmade studio, we offer color customization at no extra cost. Message us on Instagram or email your request after placing your order, and we'll match it to your space.
Yes. Kuro Design uses plastic-free packaging — honeycomb paper and corrugated cardboard (a type of strong, ridged recyclable cardboard) — so your order arrives safely without adding to landfill waste. It also looks good enough for gifting, straight out of the box.
