Every product we create is made with Jesmonite, the world’s leading water-based, acrylic polymer composite. This material is celebrated as the eco-friendly alternative to traditional resins and concrete, making it the perfect choice for the sustainable home. Jesmonite is solvent-free and contains no VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), meaning it releases no harsh chemicals or fumes, ensuring a safer process for us and a safer product for your home.
This innovative composite combines a natural gypsum mineral base with a pure, water-based liquid. The result is a durable, high-quality material that is lighter than stone, resistant to water, and incredibly versatile. In addition to being pigmentable for vibrant colours and unique terrazzo effects, Jesmonite features an incredibly fast cure time of just 25 minutes. Care & Cleaning
To maintain the refined finish of your Jesmonite product, gently wipe it with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust or light stains and always dry it completely afterward. Please avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals, as they can dull the surface and affect the material’s natural texture.
Water, Heat & Sunlight
Jesmonite is water-resistant but not waterproof, so avoid soaking or submerging the product in water. Clean spills quickly to prevent marks. Keep your piece away from direct heat and prolonged sunlight, as both can cause discoloration or surface stress over time.
Handling & Everyday Use
While durable for daily use, Jesmonite can chip or break if dropped—so handle with care. These products are not suitable for dishwashers or microwaves. Each piece is handmade, bringing unique character and slight imperfections that add to its beauty and individuality.

What exactly is Jesmonite? Is it plastic?
No, it is not plastic. Jesmonite is an eco-friendly, water-based composite material often referred to as an eco-resin or "modern stone." It has a smooth and cool texture, similar to ceramic or concrete, but is much more durable and impact-resistant. We appreciate it because it is solvent-free and sustainable, aligning perfectly with our commitment to responsible design.
I see tiny air bubbles on the surface. Is this a defect?
Not at all. These small "pin holes" are a natural characteristic of the Jesmonite casting process. Since every Kuro piece is mixed and poured by hand, air can become trapped during curing. We consider these subtle textures to be the "signature" of a slow-made, handcrafted object, proof that your piece was made by a human, not a machine.
How do I care for my Kuro piece? Is it waterproof?
Each piece is sealed with a high-quality, water-resistant sealer to protect against stains and light moisture. However, they are not dishwasher safe and should not be fully submerged. To clean your piece, simply wipe it gently with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or scouring pads to maintain the smooth matte finish.
Can I request a custom color?
Absolutely! One of the joys of being a small, handcrafted studio is our flexibility. If you need a specific shade to match your interior, we can customize the color for you at no extra cost. Simply place your order and message us on Instagram or email us with your request, and we’ll make it happen.
Is the packaging eco-friendly?
Yes. Just like our products, our packaging is designed with the planet in mind. We use honeycomb paper, corrugated cardboard, and plastic-free materials wherever possible to ensure your order arrives safely without contributing to landfill waste. It also looks beautiful, making every Kuro order ready for gifting.
